About

Calculus Primer is a student-led project dedicated to promoting higher education in physics and mathematics by providing free, high-quality calculus learning resources required for higher math and physics. We pride ourselves in the quality of our expert-written handouts, which cover 21 separate topics ranging from derivatives to differential equations. Our goal is to provide quality learning materials to aspiring students around the world especially interested in the Physics Olympiad, filling the gap created by the lack of resources online for the calculus prerequisites, enabling students to safety dive into the intricate world of physics

Meet the Team

Ong Zhi Zheng

INTI College Penang, Malaysia '23

Zhi Zheng won a Bronze and Silver Medal in IPhO '22 and '23 respectively as a Malaysian representative. He enjoys everything nerdy from tinkering with electronics to playing music, he's always ready to learn new things.

Logan Reich

Hunter College High School, NY '24

Logan is an IESO alternate and USAAAO Top Ten. He is captain of his school’s science bowl and science olympiad teams and is on the math team. Unsurprisingly, he likes astrophysics.

Aiden Jeong

Branham High School, CA '26

Aiden is a 2023 USAJMO honorable mention and two-time AIME qualifier. His favorite topics in math are geometry and combinatorics. He also likes to solve interesting problems in physics and computer science.

Ashwin Narayanan

Johns Hopkins University, MD '27

Ashwin is studying physics @ JHU. He has won silver medals at NYS Science Olympiad in Astronomy and Remote Sensing. Ashwin is co-author of a paper on CNNs to predict gene regulation. He enjoys studying LaGrange points, and hawking radiation.

Leon Lian

Great Neck South High School, NY '24

Leon is an aime qualifier and a USACO Gold division competitor. He enjoys combinatorics, geometry, and graph theory, and he also a Codeforces sweat, and likes to play with the Rubik's cube.

Nijat Abbasov

KAIST, Korea '27

Nijat is a student studying EE at KAIST University. He has won a bronze medal in IPhO and IZhO, an honorable mention in both IOAA and EuPhO and 3 gold medals in the National Physics Olympiad of Azerbaijan. His favorite topic is surface tension.

Arpit Mittal

Forsyth Central High School, GA '25

Arpit has competed in several events such as F=MA, UGA HSMT, GaTech HSMC, and MATHCON where he qualified for nationals in Chicago. He is interested in mathematics and theoretical physics which he hopes to write about more in the future.

Henry Ding

Choate Rosemary Hall '24

Henry's favorite physics field is condensed matter physics, which he hopes to research. Henry earned two gold medals in the 2023 and 2022 US Physics Olympiad and placed 2nd in the 2022 PUPC contest. He also likes to find rare Minecraft seeds.

Abheek Dhawan

Ladue Horton Watkins High School, MO '24

Abheek is a 2x NAC qualifier placing 21st in the US in 2023, has placed T3, T12, and T16 at the National Science Bowl, and placed 1st in Missouri Science Olympiad Astronomy. He coaches SciOly RFTS and is president of the CS and Astro clubs at Ladue.

Harsh Ambardekar

Green Hope High School, 2024

Harsh placed Top 30 nationally on the NAC this year and is an AIME qualifier. He is also a part of his school’s Science Olympiad and Science Bowl teams. His favorite astrophysics and math topics are cosmology, orbital mechanics, and combinatorics.

Andrey Nikitin

University of Florida, USA '27

Andrey is a 4x AIME qualifier, USAPhO silver medalist (22'), and, as a part of the Buchholz math team, won the ARML UAH site (23'). However, his greatest achievement is mastering the lost art of coord bash, allowing him to conquer any geo question!

Yida Pan

Great Neck South High School, NY '24

Yida qualified for the USESO national training camp '23 and attended the USAAAO Astronomy & Astrophysics introductory camp in 2022. He founded and directs Calculus Primer hoping future students wouldn't suffer the pain he went through to self-learn calculus for the USAPhO.
